Title: Tennessee protesters defy curfew 3rd time, no arrests
Anti-wall street protesters have for a third time gathered to chant against legislative plaza in Nashville, and no one was arrested. 75 protesters chanted "Who's plaza? Our plaza!" and danced to keep warm in the early morning. They have defied a curfew for the third time and was watched by police, but nobody was arrested.
How is this related to what we are learning? We studied amendment 1 which was The right to peacefully assemble and the right to petition. This is from the Bill of Rights which has the word rights in it so it obviously means rights obtained by the people. We learned in class that with a democratic society comes citizens rights to speak out against the government. This is in fact a nation for the people by the people.I have seen this before on t.v in our country and in other country. In our country we have the right to speak out without getting shot. But other country who's government is either dictatorship or corrupt aren't so lucky when they are speaking out about a change they feel is needed. Luckily we have this thing called the Bill of Rights. Police do however have the right to stop a petition if it is getting to out of hand. And that is how it is related to our life.
I fell the first amendment has helped make our nation a more perfect union. Without it, just imagine the upset citizens would have and then, boom! a violent wave breaks out that the citizens were forced to keep in. But fortunately the Bill of Rights protects our rights to petition. All this will help our government form better because they are getting important opinions to change. This is just on piece of the great puzzle of the United States of America.
